WELCOME

Welcome to Blooming Bobbins!

Whether you are brand new to sewing or have been making things for years, we have sewing classes and crafting workshops for every ability.

We firmly believe that sewing is a skill everyone should have the opportunity to learn.

Nothing beats the glow of being able to say, "Thanks, I made it!" when someone complements your fabulous make.

Our Studio...

...has been designed to be a lovely welcoming space. With teas and coffees (and biscuits!) available at every session, we encourage you to hang your coat up, slip into your slippers and grab a brew ready for a cosy sewing session.

Our space is easily accessible with flexible working spaces and computerised sewing machines available if you struggle to use a foot pedal.

Our Classes...

...are designed with all different levels of sewists in mind. From very beginner or those who need a little reminder, right through to more advanced sewists who are looking for their next project, we love helping people to level up their skill.

With our workshops and crafting classes, there will also be the opportunity to explore exciting new hobbies (and, yes, there is always room for one more hobby!)

Our equipment...

...has been chosen to help you create high quality pieces. Each class member will have their own sewing space and equipment, including a fab Janome sewing machine. There is also a large cutting table and a haberdashery where you will be able to find everything you need for the project we will be doing during the class.

Fabrics will be provided for most classes but there will often be an option for you to bring your own if you have some you want to use, or if you fancy bringing something to upcycle. These options will be made clear during the booking process.

Meet the Team

We are a mother-daughter team who have been sewing for more than 70 years between us, can you believe it? We want to share our passion for sewing and crafting with you: whether you're completely new to it, need some inspiration for those bits and bobs you saved for a rainy day or want to try your hand at some upcycling, we want to help you feel inspired to create something you can be really proud of.

Join us for inspiration, creativity, conversation and lots of fun!

I have been sewing buttons on things since the age of 4 (althouth, fun fact, I really, really don't like buttons now!) and have always had a passion for making pretty things.

This led me to a degree in clothing design and technology which I really loved and confirmed that designing and making clothing was the way I wanted to go. Having completed a PGCE I decided teaching secondary school wasn't for me and made the move to bridal wear alterations.

My love for teaching has never really gone away though and so Blooming Bobbins was born! I hope you have so much fun as you join us for our classes.

Since I was a child I picked up and modified anything crafty - I made patterns for the things that either I couldn't afford or that I couldn't find patterns for. Starting with soft felt toys stuffed with my mother's old stockings, then graduating onto barbie clothes. I love making models from card, crochet, knitting and tatting. I love drawing in pencil and watercolours (and recently discovered carrot charcoal! Funny story)

Although I started out with a degree in furniture design altering wedding dresses has been my career for many years now so I'm ready for something new and exciting!
